I posted a few weeks ago about the doctor finding a cancerous polyp that was discovered during my colonoscopy the latter part of March. There were all kinds of scenarios of more than one surgery I may have to go thru, maybe chemo or radiation, etc. My wife was telling everyone that I was being strong for her by not making a big deal of this. My point of view has been to put yourself in God's hands and it will be alright so there is no sense in worrying. Well, had my surgery last Thursday and the polyp was removed- the doctor said the surgery went well and only spent one night in the hospital. They were going to do another biopsy of the polyp to see how deep the cancer cells went, which would tell what my next steps would be. I was told that because of the Easter holiday that it would probably be Tuesday or maybe even Wednesday before he got the results and would call. Well, he called today and had the results.....the cancer cells seemed to be isolated to the polyp with no indication that the cancer had invaded the wall of my rectum. So as of right now I am cancer free with nothing more than a follow up visit with the doctor to go over statistics of possible recurrence to look forward to. I know because of this that I will face another colonoscopy next year but all things considered that will be a walk in the park. I am thankful to God that this has lifted the cloud off my wife of having to deal with losing someone else she loves to colon cancer. Just wanted to post the rest of the story.
