    Stocking small pond

So I have a pond on my place that’s about 1/2 acre. It has plenty of catfish but all are pretty small. It had a fish feeder that hasn’t run in years that I will have running shortly. I’d like to stock it with bass at least. What’s the best way to do this? Any other fish I should be stocking? Any companies y’all recommend?

You need to stock forage fish. Flathead minnows, blue gill and red ear sun fish. Let them get established and spawn then with bass. Thats what Overton's did at my place. One the bass get big enough add some tilapia in the warmer months.

I'd get the fish feeder going, and follow the others advice. Get the baitfish established, and then introduce the predators (bass).

You need to fish out as many as the catfish as you can. Otherwise your baitfish, sunfish or bass are just going to be feed for your catfish. Unless you introduce a mature bass (as in one).. Keeping a small pond in balance is big challenge.

Some pond guys recommend only one predator type fish, then several forage fish. If you stock hybrid bluegills you can eat them also. Ain't much better eating than a good sized bluegill.

Checked out pond king. I think I’ll have them come out and see what the best plan is. I think I’ll definetly need to cull some catfish.

                Thanks for the help guys.
