Stock Show Trailer Photos / Ideas

My boys are starting to get into showing sheep. I am looking at the myriad of options for some type of trailer to purchase to use. Having always just used our regular livestock gooseneck trailers its hard to look at these low profile type trailers that really would only have one use.

I am really considering a 16 or 20' gooseneck and modify it where I can put in or take out a couple panels to make 4 pens inside. This way I could also use it as a regular trailer. I know a bumper pull could be used if we wanted to take the wife's excursion.

Regardless I would like to see what trailer you went with (low profile or not) and what type setup/recommendations you have.

    Thanks

We haul our goats in a two horse slant trailer. We have hauled for two years without a pen system but I am going to build a slide in pen system to put in the trailer this summer. There are huge advantages to having a pen system in the trailer so they are separated to feed. You also don’t have to worry about the animals fighting either. I like the horse trailer because it has a big front tack area to store all the stuff in.

Best of luck in your decision. I struggle with wanting to buy a low profile trailer every year we start buying goats

I think your idea of modifying a 16 ft gooseneck would be good.
As your boys grow then sheep turn into bigger animals. Most 16ft
trailers have a center gate so don't think you would have to add any thing for sheep.
I had a 14ft with a center gate. Put pigs in one side and sheep in the other ,or a steer in front and sheep in back

Yep and we have breeder sheep and will need to separate rams and ewes. I just don't really want to jack with having to bend over all the time to work in the low profile ones. I'm 6-2 and don't like having to crawl around. lol

Most low profile trailers now you can stand up in or almost stand up in. My buddy bought a Jackson last year with s 6 pen system in it and a front tack room. Generator on front and a ac/heat system in it. Super nice and has all the bells and whistles. I can stand up in it. The ac is great for showing the early jackpot shows so the animals are nice and cool. The heat is great also for the major Stockshow season because it always ends up getting cold. We hauled to San Antonio last year in that new trailer and the goats were nice and cozy when it turned off cold in the heated trailer

We have been seriously looking at trailers for our show pigs too. I seen one of these at a jack pot show a few weekends ago and for the price they are nice. You can find them for $9,999. They have a tack room and 6 removable pens you can configure how you like. They are really nice.

I really thought about buying something like this (not exact brand but the style) and making a panel system to panel off the width of the escape door in the front to use as more storage or a separate pen if needed. Then have a panel that runs back to middle gate to split whats left of the front section. Then leave the back open for now for bulk sheep. Could easily take the two panels out and use the trailer as normal for other needs.

Those would both work and then build yourself a pen system to slide in and out if you wanted. I would go ahead and get the plexiglass for the slates while you are buying so you can close it up when it is cooler. The larger tack room is is a bonus as well
