I have been visiting this site for some time and finally decided to join. What a wealth of knowledge there is here. I'm glad to be a member.
I have been bowhunting for the past 5 years and it has become a passion for me.
I thought I'd share some LDP's of my season (hope it works). This was my first year on this lease and looking back I had a great season! Hunting for me was a little tough this year due to the birth of my son in the middle of November and also the dry conditions we were experiencing. But, I was fortunate to take several animals.
A hog that I took during the archery season. He only went about 30 yards and fell within sight.
A spike I took on a really cold morning. He fed for 45 minutes as I waited for more deer to show When nothing else showed at the feeder, I decided to take him. Dropped him in his tracks. He made great dry sausage!
This 8 point buck is my best buck with a bow. He gave me "buck fever" like I hadn't experienced in some time when he came in to the feeder with some does. After calming myself down and allowing him to feed for a few minutes, I made a pefect double lung shot. Hearing him crash, was a beautiful sound. He only made it 40 yards.
This 7 point buck was the icing on the cake for my season. It was the last day of the season and I had taken my brother with me in hopes of getting him on a cull buck. I sat him at a stand where I had been seeing bucks and I went to a stand that I had never hunted before in hopes of just seeing some deer. As I was watching some does and a young 8 pointer feed, this bruiser walked out. I immediately new he was a good cull buck to take. After texting my brother that I had a "shooter buck" here, I made a less than perfect spine shot and dropped him where he stood. What a way to top off the season! I also was forutnate to take a doe in December but didn't have my camera.
