    Axis vs Feed Pens

    Guys,

With the acquisition of my new lease that has butt loads of axis I need some help with a question.

The place has goats and a few cows, therefore I want to keep them out of my feed pens and away from my Cotton Seed, Rice Bran and protein. I will be building a feed pen out of 20 cattle panels that are 50" tall......I will cut approximately a foot off of a couple panels on each side to allow the deer easier access.

My question is this: If I put up cattle panels, will the axis still be able to get into the feed pen?

    Thanks in advance!

In my experience they will jump in a pen but don’t prefer it.

I don't think you will have a problem. They don't seem to mind the pens on my place.

The bigger you make the pen the better off you will be remember Axis usually run in big groups.

Do they even have cottonseed near Bracketville?...My buddy who has a place down there had to get it from Wall near Angelo on his way down.

Many of them crawl thru the barb wire, but I have seen them jump over too.

This is true, they will crowd in there.

Yes. We get it in both Uvalde and Del Rio.

His goats would seemingly cancel out barbwire..

I have the gate open on ours, but they still jump the net wire fence to get in most of the time. You should be fine.

                              Even when it’s 117 degrees
