South padre surf reports?

Has anyone been having luck fishing the surf for trout and smacks? I make plenty of fishing trips on our boat but I’m wanting to try new things and do some surf wades. Anyone been having luck down here or should I stick to the boat fishing? Thanks y’all!!

I saw that, that shark is huge!!! I’m wanting to target trout/Spanish mackerel mainly though.

I left today. We caught lots of smacks on silver spoons. If you have a boat trout limits around marker 3 by the causeway on croaker and shrimp.

I do have a boat or I should say access to one. It’s my fathers and we regularly make trips inshore and offshore for snapper and all the good stuff. I’m wanting to target speckled trout and Spanish from the beach mainly. I’m looking for a way to switch things up and catch some fish other than on a boat.
