    Top water bass bite?

Anyone getting into some good topwater action yet?

Tagged. I’m ready for some top water action. I used to get a lot hits on a buzz King & artificial frog. In my younger days even the small gators would go after that buzz king lol. Had to be cautious when fishing the slews on Gus Engeling

Caught a 6.4 on Travis a few weeks back on top and a few other nice fish.

So is the topwater bite better in warmer months? I assume then it’d be an early morning, dusk thing?

Kinda figured, especially with all these weekly cool fronts knocking temps back down 15-20 degrees

One of the warm spells,a couple weeks back, provided me a few on flies. Always great watching the fly disappear in a froth.

This year has been really weird. Typically in LA where I fish Bass start spawning in February but I never did catch them on beds all the way up into late March. I talked to a few folks who fished last weekend and caught bass full of eggs. I caught some small males in shallow water but my best fish were in 8 to 15 foot.

My buddy won the lake fork classic this weekend using top water bait. Best part about it.....hes a total amateur not a fishing pro. I was really happy for him

We are going to give it a go thurs evening and fri morning, what’s the worst that could happen, we switch baits and run something deeper like a lipless crankbait or Texas rugged worm?

Our local lake was sitting at 53-55 degrees last week. Most fish are still in the 25-50’ range from what I’m hearing. It’s been a weird spring. I’d imagine it’ll be a while before topwater heats up for us.

So have the Fish spawned yet? At 25 to 50 feet I’m guessing they haven’t.
