How to keep turkeys on property

My lease is about 200 acres near Fredericksburg. Until a couple years ago our spring turkey season was pretty good. For the last couple years we see turkeys during deer season but in the spring we hardly have any. We have water, roost trees and corn feeders. Is there a way to get them to stick around during the spring season? Would feeding milk help?

I have found that they don't like pressure at all. If they were roosting in a group of your trees I would give them a good buffer. 20 acres or so that you don't mess with. Just my opinion and probably no easy to do on smaller acreage. Other than than...food, water, cover.

Mix some milo in your feeders. They love it. Not sure what your coon population is like, but get rid of all of them that you can. If you have water, some roost trees, and feed they should stay pretty close.

              Milk?? What in tarnation?

Food, water and roost trees are all you can do.

We turn all our feeders up in early March to keep the hens on our place. Seems to work for us. All I can tell you is to add more feed somewhere.

As much as they move during season for us they would be off and on 200 acres in no time.

This too. We have removed 231 coons since 5/2015 and our turkey hunting has been incredible the last two years.

Our turkeys hit clover hard this time of year, before there are really any bugs to get after. A chufa plot works wonders for turkeys. I saw some today eating wheat that has started to head out in one of my plots. They’re pretty opportunistic feeders.

They are moving to another property to eat something you don't have. We used to experience this in late deer season. They were going to some big pecan trees a half mile south of us.

They make turkey feeders. Might try a few on your place, but corn feeders are probably not gonna help all that much. Turkeys pretty well feed all day, so fifteen minutes worth of corn might not keep them around if something more substantial is a few acres away.

I’m having the same issue. There are big flicks around me, but have not been able to convince them to come here with any regularity yet.

I seen them turkey feeders at AST but a feller would have to build a elevated deck for it, the hogs would haul it off or the coons would rape it if it was on the ground. The other night I snuck by one of my protein feeders and seen a coon so big, I ran.

They like chocolate but not white milk[emoji28]

As said earlier, turn the corn up and put some turkey feeders out also.
