My youngest daughter (10 years old) has always loved going to the lease but has never really been excited about killing a deer. I think she has always seen them as lovable and cute. About a month ago she came to me and said she wanted to shoot a deer and wanted it to be a buck if she could and would I take her? I jumped for joy (on the inside) and told her we would give it a shot. So last weekend I take my middle daughter, her friend and my youngest to the deer lease. My youngest is all about getting a deer. I asked her if she wanted to take a friend, she said no, that it might interfere with her hunting. Bottom line she got it done, one shot and he was DRT. She was so happy and proud and so was I!!
That morning I was bow hunting a buck (we called him Gladiator) that I had been chasing all season. He was 8+ years old and hadn't shown up during daylight hours. All the lease members were hunting this guy just because he was so elusive. They are all rifle hunters and I am the sole bow hunter. I figured the pressure had moved him north and I was spot on. He was at one of my little sneaky spots. I shot him at 8 yds and he ran about 60 yds and fell over. The rage two blade puts quite the hole in them. (first pic is entry and second is exit). My arrow went through him so fast, I thought I missed! Easy tracking!
