    Corn Blower/Feeder filler

I seen a couple of requests for info about the feeder fillers using a leaf blower over the past few months. I thought I would post up the pics that I had of the one that Trail Boss made. This works great. Just BE SURE and ground the thing when you use it or you'll really wish you had.

You'll have to play with the "baffle" that you put in the throat of the T to make it flow at the correct rate but once you get that teaked it works great.

By baffle your talking about the funnel on the inside of the bucket? It looks easy enough, why would they charge so much for the pack mule? Also, how do you typically ground yours?

Should be no need to ground unless using a metal container, like the metal trash can in the pic.

If you look down inside it there is a piece metal that is placed at an angle in the throat of the T. You have to play around with it some to figure out what is the best angle and how much space to leave at the botton for the air to move past. It has to be at an angle to keep the air from blowing the corn back up into the bucket. I hope that helps explain it better. If you PM Trailboss he might be able to explain the process better. To ground mine I took a six foot length of copper wire and attached it to the PVC pipe with a self tapping screw and then clamped the other end to a large spike. Like a heavy tent stake or a large timber spike. You can get them at Lowes, Home Depot etc.

Psicoo, I awas told that moving air across that PVC will DEFINITELY build up a static charge and it will zap you. And I can testify that I got zapped.

The PVC pipe is where the static electricity comes from - and it can be quite strong!

Guess I have been fortunate so far. I have only had to use it four times this year. Thanks for the warning, though.

If building one of these how much does it cost and how long would it take to move 500 lbs of corn?

ours took about a 50# load per minute, worked us to death
get a super good blower or else you will be changing it out after extensive use. make sure you start the blower unit before putting feed in as it will not be as likely to clog this way.
BTW- did someone say it will shock the houie out of you if you do not ground it???? that's right!!! got the tingle to prove it...

                      About 2mins per 50lbs.

Cost is going to vary. If you have to buy a blower then naturally your cost will be more. I had an extra leaf blower that I used and I had a pool chem. bucket that is a little larger than a five gal. I think. I had to buy the PVC pipe and fittings so my cost was pretty low.
