So my good buddy William had an opportunity to lease 2 small properties in Cherokee Co. He wanted to have sort of a worry free lease where the kids and wives could pretty much shoot anything that's legal and the guys would be more management minded. Steph has decided she's going to hunt a little more this year since the kids are getting a little older and this is a long term deal on this place. It'll be just about perfect for Adalee and Raylen's first deer in the next couple of years. I jumped in sight unseen just for the group of guys that are hunting it and so my babies will have a place to hunt down the road.
I saw it for the first time this past Friday. We hung a bunch of stands, threw some corn out, put up a couple of feeders and bow it's a deer lease. Half of the property is loaded with deer and has a few hogs, the other half is loaded with hogs and has a few deer so at the end of the day it's a target rich environment! Cameras haven't produced any real big deer yet but that'll come as we learn the property.
Got some movement to the west. Check back in shortly
All righty then. We got us a live hunt thread. Good luck Jooger! Have the mosquitos started buzzing yet? What's your weapon of choice tonight? How long you staying in the stand? What time does the feeder throw?

Never got a good look at what was to the west but cows aren't out of the question. Most of them should be on the other side of the creek. There's no feeder at this spot, just hand corn. There is a feeder about 300 yards SE of me though. Haven't had the first mosquito buzz me on this place yet and that blows my mind. My place in Trinity Co is absolutely loaded with them. Completely unhuntable without a thermacell. I've got the old Hoyt Carbon Element with me. I went and shot bows last time I was home and almost pulled the trigger on a Carbon Defiant but I ain't got that kind of money! I'll be here too dark or so. Camera shows pigs coming from 5:45-Dark:30 and I couldn't find the charger for my kill light. We'll see how it goes, mainly just wanting to get in the woods because it's a 50/50 shot on if I'll be home for the opener or not. Either way I'll be gone almost the entire month of October, coming in on the 28th but I'll have 3 weeks off to chase them then.
There's plenty of squirrels in here cutting acorns! About December I'll have to see if I can slow a few of those down! Wind is swirling pretty bad down in this bottom, may be a lost cause trying to hunt it. If nothing shows between now and a few min before dark I may try and put a sneak on the feeder.
