    Anyone own a Sundancer?

I'm only in the research phase but am interested in a big boat. Something to cruise the icw, Florida keys and make a fair weather run to the Bahamas. I like the 280 as it can be trailered and has a single engine to deal with but wouldn't be opposed to a 350 either. Just looking for some first hand info.

You start getting that big, you will appreciate dual engines for maneuverability.

I can't imagine that run to the Bahamas on a single engine. Maybe I'm just paranoid????

I thought so too until YouTube..... bay boats, ski boats and jet skis regularly make the 55 nm trip.

Bow thrusters should make up for it

Ran a 280 for 3 months before we sold it. Being the kind of family that always has to have fishing gear any time we're near water, we just didnt like it and did not get the same enjoyment out of it compared to our fishing boats

If youre strictly looking for a cruiser, then theyre nice, especially when you get a good deal on a lightly used one.

Fishing is a priority!!! And a draw back to the sundancer. I have thought about converting the extended swim deck into a fishing platform.

Those are definitely not fishing boats. For the price of those boats you could buy a pretty nice offshore boat.

^^^^ This, and when I was in the Coast Guard down in Miami we rarely got calls to pick up twin engine boats.

I'm really interested in a very comfortable live aboard. Searays offer a ton of living space for the size. For the Florida trips I plan to tow my bay boat along as my fishing boat and use the live aboard as a mothership. Basically island hopping through the keys, tortugas and marquesas.

Well dadgum...can I tag along? haha

Our compromise when selling the sundancer was a Boston Whaler 345 Conquest . Easily fishable and had most comforts that the Sundancer had. Was great for friday through Sunday trips. Once I moved back to Texas, ended up selling it and now my uncle settled for a 26ft hybrid Yellowfin since he no longer had my help. Now hes trying to convince me to move back down there so he can upgrade to a freeman
