Experienced Drone Owners at the lease?

Went to a new Ranch we are selling today and watched one of my colleagues use his Drone. This "machine" actually followed us in my Ranger and would venture off with GREAT live video/pics up to 400' high and a good distance. Run time was about 30 minutes max battery powered. We all were impressed! He spent around $1K on his unit but said I could get a decent one for around $500 +/-? I know, you get what you pay for!

With my ever increasing lack of mobility...don't/can't "still hunt" and mostly limited to UTV mobility or sitting in the stand....I wonder if this would be another fun way to enjoy the lease.

I'm not "mad at deer" anymore so most of my time in the field is enjoying the various "critters" I see morning or evening. Don't get me wrong, I would take that Big Ole' Boy if he came my way, but have plenty of Venison from my young TBH son...so don't feel the need to fill the freezer at this point.

Just curious if any of you use a drone, brand, cost, the "good and the bad?" I still get a "rush" seeing any wild critters and just thought this would be another way to enjoy what we all do....time marches on so enjoy all I can....

DJI is what I have. I love it, just haven't got to use it much.

Drones are very cool for capturing footage of deer and other wildlife. I don't have one myself but have been around a couple and I really want to get one!!

Why this one over the phantom ?

I fly a Phantom 3 Pro and 4 Pro and both are very good. The main difference is the camera. 12 mp on the 3 Pro vs 20 mp on the 4 Pro along with a larger sensor which is always better on any camera. Both have 4k video that is incredible. The 4 has a sport mode that is fun to fly (fast).
The Mavic pro is also a nice drone, compact and packable. It's actually slightly quieter and hovers more stable than the Phantoms. Only a 12 mp camera but still 4k video. The Mavic also has a sport mode. Mavic has upgraded OcuSync transmission which I like. Had both of my Phantoms lose transmission and go into Atti mode in tight spots. It's like flying on ice.
I would probably go with the Mavic Pro. The 12 mp camera is plenty for most people but I use mine for work and need the 20 mp resolution.

The smaller size compared to the phantom is why I picked it. Much easier to throw into a bag and take to the lease (or anywhere for that matter).

Mavic Pro fits everything to fly in a very small bag,
