Cool jump and underwater video of the end of a 5.5 hour Marlin battle! The fish ran straight down and then 11 miles after we hooked it up, and we didn't...
I have 3 days schedule with John and would love to hear your report. Right now we are planning two inshore days and 2 offshore day. We could switch that around. We are fishing late July.
I did 1 offshore and 1 inshore. Tore it up offshore so I booked a second day.
They had found some nice structure off shore and we hammered dodos (GF got a 63 incher), wahoos, and sails. Just trolling. Second time we get 1 sail and a few small dodos.
Inshore we went 3/6 on roosters with the GF loosing all 3 of her hookups. Inshore was hot, with no breeze, but we brought music and beer. I think you will get your fill after one day.
Manual Antonio is a really cool town, we had a car and would drive to Quepos in the morning.
I am friends with the guys on facebook, so I have been seeing teh pics of fish they have been catching. These are some from my trip, I am pretty sure the boat is the Stress Reeleiver 2.
Excellent.
We are renting a home in Quespos and want some fish we can cook for the week. Looks like you did best on meat fish going offshore? I heard the grouper bite is pretty good as well.
Shot of our "structure", deep dropping results and the finished product.
We would take our catch to restaurants and they would cook them up a few ways. Figured out by the end if we took them a big enough hunk, they wouldn't even charge us to cook it, just for food and sides. We had a small super market in MA, I am pretty sure there is one in Quepos.
I think they can put you on the species you want. But yea, roosters are fun to catch, but it C&R. You may get a snook inshore, but not sure if they keep them there. If it were me, I would do 2 days of shore and 1 inshore. Spend one day trolling and one dropping for grouper, them little fish down deep can wear you out more than the big ones on top.
If you plan on driving from the airport to Quepos. Be advised there are very little street lights, narrow streets, and large trucks on the road. Wasnt too bad, until a huge thunderstorm rolled in and it was black as all get out. When we go back, we will make sure we are driving during daylight hours.
