HELP ! Thumb or Trigger finger BOW RELEASE ?

Looking to add a backup or possibly change my primary release this season.

Shooting a Mongoose right now. After one trip forgetting my one and only release and shooting with my fingers instead (not pleasant) I decided it's time to add another.

So, how about some opinions on these two different styles !?

I like the idea of a clip on thumb release that you can leave attached to the bow. Enabling you to keep eyes on the animal when reaching for the bow instead and looking for the "D" loop to connect the strap on release.

Single caliper, dual caliper, or the new pin/hook design ?

    Thanks !

I've really been happy with my Carter Target 4+ thumb release.

Shoot the same style as you already do. That way nothing changes. The last thing you want to do is go to shoot an animal and realize that you've got a different type of release than normal.

2nd this. I bought a Trufire Hardcore 4 for something different to "play" around with. I normally use a Scott silverhorn which I love. The true fire effected my shots so differently that I would have completely had to readjust my bow and sights to get it right. All this did was remind me to stick with what works and how important consistency is. I thought I could switch out releases and it wouldn't effect anything but was sadly mistaken. Thanks to amazon prime the TF thumb release is going back.

I have a Carter 2 Shot that I like for a wrist (index finger) release. But my primary release that I have fallen in love with is a Carter Plain 1 thumb release.

Yeah, I wouldn't count of going back and forth. I have both, but have switched to the thumb release once I committed to it. If you don't commit to a thumb release it wont make you better. At least it didn't for me. When I committed to it I found I liked it better and I was way more consistent, and just flat out shot better than I ever have before.

I picked up a Winn c-10 on Ebay for $50. gonna give that a try before a jump into the thumb release..

My plan was to permanently go to a thumb release, and keep a wrist release in the stand pack for emergencies. Or the other way around if I didn't like the thumb release as much.

I'm gonna try the new STAN Perfex when the shop gets them in. I tried a "cheaper" thumb release and it was junk.

Thumb release all the way... learn it now, plenty of time to get use to it and find your new anchor.

Will more than likely change your peep location...

I went to a thumb release this year. Practiced a lot during the summer. Pulled back on a hog when it was cool... I was wearing a jacket. Release hit the collar of my jacket. Arrow flew over the hog. Not sure if staying with thumb or not. Really did like it.

Love my thumb release, wish I would have switched a long time ago. I shoot a Stan. Just X four finger. It is nice to clip on and have your hand free to stalk, or range, then just be able to grab it and draw.
