UTV size for pulling a disc?

    Will a 2005 2wd mule 3000 (620 cc, locking rear diff) pull a 4.5' disc?

Probably, but too many variables to answer your question. Soil type, implement weight, disc angles, previous tillage or new ground, vegetation, etc.

Either way, you can tear up some ground, but not likely to get a "plowed" field result.

20 degree disc, one row. The disc will weigh around 250#, and I can stack on another 100 pounds.

New plot, sandy loam soil. Tall grass, but I'll cut it beforehand.

Not if you care about your mule. Will it pull it? Most likely yes. Will it tear up the mule? Most likely.

Fair enough. I'll just get someone with a tractor to come rototill it the first time. Then once it's broken up the mule should handle it from there, right?

It'll do something, but need to be realistic in your expectation of the results with a single row lightweight disc. Also, anything more than a quarter acre is going to take a lot of time with that small disc.

It always works good on TV and internet when they're trying to sell small implements to hunters without tractors. But I've worked fields that took several passes even with actual big boy equipment in order to get anywhere near a plant-able result.

Only way to know for sure how it will work in your application is to give it a go.

A 40HP tractor with tires design for pulling and LOW gear ratios has a hard time pulling a 6 foot disc. You will tear up your equipment trying it. A single gang could be pulled, however still will be hard on your engine and equipment. Depending on the size of the disc (unknown) and if the gang sinks to the spools, the answer it NO.
