    89 gmc 1500 4x4 project!

It may not look like much now, but this was the last truck that my grandfather owned. My grandma was nice enough to let me have it as long as I fix it up and get it on the road again. Shouldn't take a whole lot, gonna get it running sometime this week hopefully and then start worrying about the bodywork! I can't wait to see it living again!!

My first truck was an '89 GMC 4x4 Short and Wide! 350 and 5 speed. I want another around that year. My favorite truck.

Thats awesome that your project has history. Keep us updated!

There was something about those '89s and '90s....they would run like a scalded cat, crazy how fast they were. I loved those old up and over speedometers too!

I agree...some of the best trucks made. Those 350's were great engines. Talk about a beast in the mud too.

I had an 89 GMC single cab stepside. It would hang with 90's mustangs and camaros even with a 3.08 rearend. Crazier than that was it got 20 mpg on the highway.

There is a reason the smallblock got put into everything back in the day. And now-a-days, parts are literally everywhere, and relatively cheap. I had a '96, remember replacing the thermostat for like 15 bucks, redid the intake manifolds for about 100 bucks, and one long night of work. Super easy to work on. Great trucks.

The plan is to return it the way it looked the day my grandpa drove it home from the dealership 27 years ago!

I sure wish this one was 4X4. My grandpas old truck, I drove it off the lot when I was 14.
1987.5 model with 127K original miles. She was a mess.
