They are considered rodents.

It's both awesome and disturbing that you can stumble across so many exotic animals in Texas. I saw something dead on the side of the OSR today that looked like a coyote with a fat body and long hairless tail at first. On second look I decided it might be a wallaby but then remembered I did not sleep at all last night. Was not even going to say anything to anybody about it until I saw this thread.

There ranch in San Antonio that raise them. I don't how far this from there.
