11,748 dead so far in 2016

Thanks to several websites that record such things, here's the latest tally. Since January 1st 2016 there have been 1,268 Islamic terror attacks in 50 countries, in which 11,748 people were killed and over 14,000 injured. Most of these attacks occurred in Iraq, Syria, Somalia, and don't make the news in the United States.

    Interesting and sad statistic!

By the same token, in 2013 there were 33,000 gun related deaths in the USA alone, and something like 73,000 non-fatal injuries from guns.

Naw, I'm all for the second amendment. Heck, I have a gun on as we speak. Just pointing out that in comparison, the numbers are lower than I would have thought considering we are talking world wide.

2/3s of those "gun related" deaths are suicide.

Correct! And without guns they would have still done it. Good point!

Interesting and fun facts, systemnt! Slight clarification on the driving time to the sun: you cited over 150 years, which is correct; source I checked said 177 years at 60 mph. Probably most of us would be closer to the 150 figure....

So ISIS is not as bad as drunk driving and doctor malpractice! That's a relief, I thought they actually wanted to kill Americans and people world wide in numbers, but apparently I was Misguided.
