Me and some friends went 3 weeks ago, we hunted the kreager pasture. We saw lots of deer but no shooters; the camp house was nice and the pasture's terrain varies alot within a couple hundred yards of another. Overall great hunt and Rusty as well as Nick are alot of help and will point you in the right direction. Will be hunting the Wil Rign pasture(not sure on spelling) in mid December..Hope this helps...Lates!!

Not meaning to hijack but... POCO, you should setup on the edge of the big oatpatch in the will rhelm pasture. There are some big trees in a bend off to the right as you enter the oats. I saw several shooter buck in that corner a few years back. I had setup on the opposite side of the oats because of the wind and had to watch some really nice deer for most of the last afternoon of my hunt.

just got back for rusty and my birthday hunt. had a great time and saw tons of deer. i shot my biggest doe ever. no big bucks came out for me but its really early for them to start showing still. i will be going back later in the season to a secret spot we found. i would tell you where but i would have to kill you. seriously. we where in every pasture and saw game in all. my biggest advise for anyone going out to brushy hill is this; either pay rusty to have a set up ready for you or tip him well to give some tips on where they are being seen. the man knows his stuff and is out there everyday seeing all that is to be seen. pete, eva, and rusty are good honest people. they will do what they can to make your hunt a great one.

                There out there!!!

Me my Dad and 2 buddies hunted out there for 5 days in the kreager pasture. Saw tons of deer!!! My buddy shot a nice 8 pointer. I saw only one shooter buck and passed him up. He was a big 5 pointer with about a 17 in inside spread. Great deer for culling but I wanted the big one I saw last year. He was about a 150 class 10 pointer that never gave me a shot.
The place has lots of deer but the good ones apparently are real hard to get unless they are rutting like last year when I was there. My advice is to stay in the trees and not on the ground unless you can let a ground blind sit for 2-3 days before hunting it. I used the mojo leafy sheets and lots of brush to conceal me instead of a popup. We used popups as well and they just didnt fare as well. Those deer will steer clear of those things like crazy. My buddy hunted one after it was sitting there for 2 days and saw 25+ deer one evening and they avoided his popup by 60 yards. I had the mojo leafy sheets and had about 15 deer feeding within shooting range and they never knew I was there. Those sheets work really well cause they dont form any lines that deer can see. The work great for your treestands too when there is limited cover.

Most people run to the back of the pasture, but both deer we've killed there, were killed in the front between the road and the cabin. Before you put up a stand think about how many people already have put a stand there. Try something out of the ordinary. For a good cheap hunt any one should try it out.

Poco you must be the guy that Rusty was telling me about. Pete said he was celebrating his B-Day for about a week!LOL He must have been cause we could have shot all those small bucks and no one would have known, cause no one came to our camp till the 4th day, and still that was the only time anyone paid us a visit. I did offer Rusty a nice tip if he would scout out a different spot but all he suggested was a few corn route spots we already knew about. I think he was still in party mode. LOL

My brother and I will be hunting the Kreager pasture on Dec 3rd - 5th. Any insight would be really nice. We have ground blinds but we would love to stick to our tree stands and tripods.

Only advice I have; is brush in good and do not over feed your area. Pasture has semi tall brush in the middle and lower black brush in front and back of pasture...Lates!!

Does anyone have a map to the Hog Heaven South pasture? We are going in a couple of weeks and would like to get an idea of what to look for. I've never hunted this ranch but am looking forward to it.
