    Injured Deer

We have an injured deer on trail cam and my opinion is that he's 4.5, but since he's hurt he looks smaller maybe because he's weak. I've posted pictures of him healthy from last year and the new pictures of him with his injured hip from this year. Let me know what y'all think about him. My vote is to harvest regardless, because he looks like he's struggling.

I think that deer is older than 4.5, he definitely drawn up be it from the rut or an injury.

Back left hip looks dislocated. I would save him the misery of a slow death from a coyote or something. I've seen deer survive with front legs useless but not back legs.

This is the same thing I said before about this buck. Have you seen him recently on trail cam or in person? If so, does he look better, about the same, or worse?

Also, I agree that he's at least 4.5 this year.

Had a deer at my house missing his back left leg from the hoc down. It was actually impressive to watch him go. Didn't bother him at all. He could run like the other deer and even watched him jump a fence a few times. I think in certain situations they can make it with a messed up back leg, but I don't think this guy can. I would shoot given the opportunity.

Tough call. I would have to see him travel.
Bet his rack suffers next year.
But if he survives, he would still be a trophy
I shot a deer just like this 8 yrs ago.
Had an arrowhead in his back that I didn't see.
Front end was huge , back end was atrophied.
                    Ended up 7.5 years old.

                    Good luck

Agree with this part. I'm sure it is a dislocation, too. We saw a yearling get hung up in a net fence. We cut him loose and that's exactly how he looked, except he also broke his back. Game warden shot him because it was after the season.

Looks like a 4.5 in last years pics with the deep neck and has heavy front end of a 5.5 in this years pics.
If you take him post up the top and side views of the right lower jaw teeth

These injured deer can be much older than you think. I have similar circumstance.

Haven't seen him in person yet. I agree that we really need to harvest this deer before he gets worse or coyotes get him.
