    Masterbuilt Electric Smoker

I just bought a 30" Masterbuilt electric smoker. I have never used one of these, and I have heard that using a smoker can make some pretty great jerky. Does anyone have experience with this that would be willing to give me some tips (time, temp, water, and/or wood chips)?

Bump did a search and not finding much on this.. I want to make some jerky in the electric smoker, anyone have a guideline for a ballpark expected cook time and what temp to smoke it at? Never made jerky before so it’s gonna be an experiment, at least want to make it edible. Any tips are appreciated.

I take out two shelves and make hangers out of paper clips. Hang the meat from the shelf and cook at 212 - 220. Open the vent to let moisture escape. Can't tell you the exact time but you can tell. I use High Mountain Seasoning for jerky.

Smoke it the whole time or part? Heard mixed reviews, I love the smoky taste personally

I took out the wood chip pan and put tin foil under the heat element and lay the wet wood chips right on the heat element for more smoke. Crack the door to cool it down. They run a little hot.

I’ve had a MES 30” for a few years til it died. Now I’ve got a traeger that I’ve used about once or twice a week since I’ve gotten it. I LOVED my MES but the thing is, unless you want to constantly put chips in the tiny smoke pot, get yourself an A-Maz-N pellet smoker and don’t look back. Lol. I got the tray which smokes solid for at least three hours sometimes four. I light it, wait til it’s smoking then stick it on the bottom each and smoke whatever I want. As far as smoking foods, it holds a great temp because it’s insulated just makes you keep adding chips every 45 minutes because the tray inside is tiny.

I have a MB. I honestly like jerky better in a dehydrator. Look at their website I think there is a recipe.
