Average life of a D loop?

I'm probably about 75 shots into this one with a Carter 2 shot. The last one was tearing up pretty quick also.
Consistent damage on the back of the loop on both. I feel like something is wrong. I can't find a bur on the release or maybe it's the string material. Any ideas?

Yeah that doesn't seem normal. I've probably shot at least 500 shots through my new bow and haven't had any signs of wear like that

I've put 75 shots through mine in just one shooting session before. I usually replace the loop when I replace the string. Something isn't right. You may not have a burr, but how sharp are the edges of the calipers?

If there were sharp edges, one would think the inside of the loop would show wear. I may go over the calipers with some 600 grit or polishing compound and see what happens.

I'm going on close to 1000 on mine with minimal wear

The perplexing thing is I've been shooting with this release for years and this seems to be a new problem.

Replace it, and when you do start waxing it with the rest if your string. You can also serve these to prevent wear causing a premature dloop change. My chocolate addiction is the hardest on loops I have ever shot. Do you put the loop in a bind when you anchor up? If so maybe you should look into a torque less loop.

Try a different material or maybe the release is not functioning properly. I suggest you contact Forest @ Carter and ask him, he would know. If you do the Facebook thing he answer messages very quickly in most cases.

Dang that hurts don't it. Twice as much if other people are watching.

calipers are HARD on string... 250-300 shots out of my fist one... I have switched to a hook... I'm way more shots in and it is holding up fine

The problem is the loop material. Some materials tend to fray easily.
I use BCY Sprectra 1.9mm. This is recommended by Jerry Carter.

There may be a burr on your release. I had one on mine and it did that.
