    Wright Patman Corps Land

Does anyone here hunt wright patman and would like to hand out some tips.
Started bow hunting last year and couldn't seem to get close to anything. Saw does and signs of bucks but could never find them. I want to put out a trail cam but hesitant it might get stolen. How do you scout public land, what signs do you look for or try to avoid when out there.

Also any pics of deer taken from patman would be great, at least get me excited.

    Thanks

I hunt up on the sulphur above the lake. Best bet is to boat and hunt, eliminates a lot of the hunting pressure

What do think about me putting a camera out, do you think it will get stolen before I get the pictures?

If You get away from the beaten path it SHOULD be ok but it is public land...I've put them out but never left them in one spot longer than a week

Thanks, I've been looking over google earth for areas out of the way, I know they allow hanging feeders but I'm thinking about putting out that four65 rock so it's not so obvious

Yea, lots of pigs so they generally keep feeders cleaned up. Focus on game trails and draws.

Just an update, put a camera out yesterday and spread a bag of corn. Found an area where two trails meet into one so I figured that was a good of spot an any. if I get any good pics I will post them up.

I don't know about the lake area but on White Oak WMA which joins it on the upper end you better keep everything under lock and key. The thieves are as thick as the coons.

I've hunted out there a few times the last 3-4 seasons, and I wouldn't put a camera out unless you are ok with it getting stolen. Maybe a $50 cheapo, so if it's gone you're not out $$$. The boat option is probably the best bet, because I see lots of road hunters and even 4 wheelers riding in to areas that aren't supposed to allow them. It's public land, and you get all types. Good luck...

You guys got me worried so I went out this morning to grab the camera, it was still there but the only picture I had was of a bird. Back to the drawing board

Alright, super excited about tomorrow, went out today and scouted some more ( only chance in had this week) and a bunch of rubs and scrapes. Even ate all the corn I put out 2 weeks ago. Good luck to all of you who are going out tomorrow!
