being from brazos co and hunting the surrounding areas, age on a deer means nothing. The areas are so over hunted that if the animal meets any antler restrictions it will be hunted. 6 don't look like he'll make the AR but the 8 looks possible.

I think the 6 is legal. Def looks 13" or over to me and as for age, they both look 4.5. If it were me, I'd probably let both of them walk... They'd be pretty darn good next yr and that 6 would have some character!

X2 I've been hunting my family land in south Brazos co for about 8 years now and almost every deer I've let walk in hopes of getting bigger, only to never see them again. When gun season starts around my area it sounds like ww2 goin on opening morning. What area of Brazos co do you hunt in?

This area is right outside of wellborn...I have seen many of these bucks for several years now. Some of the bigger ones do go missing and some stay around. This property is about 60 acres and has a sub division on one side. The other sides are not hunted so I feel like I may have a chance at letting some of them get bigger but who knows!

I'm not that far from you. I hunt in millican, just a little further south of wellborn. Sounds like you have a good setup where your at though. There are some big deer in wellborn.

Sorry forgot to answer your question in my other post. The 8 looks to be 4.5 and the 6 looks like 3.5. The 8 will definitely make AR, I don't think the 6 will, but is very close. Jmo of course

Are you on a lease down there? That's a good area. My dad used to be on a lease right on the river in peach creek when I was younger.

Close family friend has land that backs up to the river. But even then its over hunted. We tag out our does every yr plus pigs there. Weve mainly changed that place into duck hunting grounds. Weve got a slough that comes off the river that holds ducks. We have a place in Lee Co that we hunt our bucks on.

That's crazy. It must be over hunted if your just getting does, cz that area used to have allot big deer. That's sad to hear.

Hunted Brazos Co for 30+ years. Our land was cut by Thornberry Drive on the east side of Bryan and my hunting trees are now in backyards. One still holds a gametamer that would have to be cut out of the tree. I promise those deer get huge when let to age. Good enough for a 7 point jacket at Los Cazadores.

The buck I was hunting that years would easily go in the 160s. For the life of me, I cannot find the trail cam pic.
