The last couple of weeks I have been scouting a couple of public land areas to get an ideal of the deer’s summer time patterns in an attempt to be ready for an early season public lands hunt.
I have been amazed at how the deer are concentrated on the volunteer wheat that was left in the fields after harvest. All the farmers in this certain area barley got wheat harvested before another series of rain fell. So in return they have not had a chance to turn under the wheat stubble, straw and the volunteer regrowth.
Early mornings and late evenings you would think it was late fall on these fields; in return has them back to their late fall, winter patterns.
Just thought I would share.
God Bless.
