    Laser Hog Light

This is going to make one heck of a good hog light.

It is one of the most powerful mini hand held lasers you can get, and let me tell ya, it is plenty bright enough to shoot with in the dark.

    It is a green laser.

Got it mounted on an old mini tripod head for a camera. Fully adjustable.

Put a vibration dampener in the end of the tripod handle. The handle is also the tightening/adjustment lock.

The rubber strap on the laser is my switch. Don't laugh, it works great.

I just finished it up, and haven't shot with it yet, but it is very solid, and mounts solid, so it should work real good.

The laser has a spot focus, so I can make the spot pretty large. It makes a spot about 18" diameter at 15 yards when zoomed all the way up, and it only illuminates what it is hitting. There is no spread out light between you & your target.

I'll do some video shooting with it when I get a chance & get it sighted in.

It's ugly, but the hogs won't care what it looks like, and I can sight it in just like a laser sight on a gun.

Brian, the sighting in will be pretty much cut & dried.
Nothing really interesting. Just adjust the dot until the arrow hit where the dot is.

I just played with it some here in the house at 10 yards.
Adjusted the dot where the arrow hits where it is.

I don't have to do anything but draw the bow, put the dot where I want to hit, and that's where she goes when I drop the string.

I plan on sighting it in for 15 yards on a large dot for hunting.

Just came in from shooting with it outside in the dark.

I'm tired & need to go to bed, so didn't spend much time with it, and no video this time, but I can consistently keep all of my arrows in the square of the face of a suspended 18/1 rhinehart target from 15 yards.

All I'm doing is putting the dot on the target, and the arrow goes to the center of the dot.

With the spot focused as large as it will go, it just covers/illuminates the rhinehart target at 15 yards. Perfect.

            This thing is gonna rock.

Went out after dark tonight to do some serious sighting in with this rig. It works real well once you get it, but there were two problem.

Problem 1 - When the mount handle (which is also the adjustment lock) is loosened, it loosens both the windage & elevation axis at the same time. Not good, especially for a fumble fingers like me.

Problem 2 - The handle/lock does not tighten good enough to keep the mechanism from moving during the shots. The movement is slight, but enough that it is quite a bit off after a few shots.

Fix for the problem - I removed the handle, then drill tapped, and installed set screws in the couplers for each axis. Now they stay put, and I can adjust them completely independent of one another.

Something that I found quite pleasing is - For my windage adjustment, all I have to do is align the beam with the arrow, and I am dead on with my left/right. This speaks well for the bow, and the tune/arrow flight, thus why I am so pleased with it.

This also comes in quite handy for when removing & reinstalling the light on the bow. All I have to do is install it, and visually align the beam to an arrow on the bow, and I'm right back to dead on as long as I don't loosen the set screws.
