    Live at Tatonka Creek(actually done)

Rolled into camp yesterday and made a quick hunt. My buddy arrowed a nice ram 15 minutes into the hunt. The rest of our group of 5 finished up today with rams. A lot of game here! Had to work for it but the guides are great. Pleased with everything so far. I will give a full report when I get back to a computer.

This was our first time to hunt anything exotic so we really didnt know what to expect. The owner, John Martinez, answered any and all questions before the hunt and was very patient as I threw numerous questions at him. We rolled into camp Friday evening after a 9 hour drive. The outside of the lodge is nothing spectacular but it serves the purpose and we werent looking for a "high dollar" operation anyway. After walking inside we were pleased with the accommodations. There are 20 bunk beds and a nice kitchen. We did most of our cooking on the outside grill and were very comfortable all weekend. We even had about 12 Bison come join us at the large on Saturday afternoon as we grilled. The only negative I can say about the lodging is the hot water heater must have been out so the morning showers were a little chilly.

Our guides, Big Chief and his 11 year old grandson went out of their way to get us on a Ram and help in caping and cleaning when everything was over. He even offered us a hunt on Friday evening since the rain was threatening for the weekend and my buddy killed a nice Ram. There is plenty of game......from Rams of all sizes, merino, bison, Ibex, Aoudad, nilgai, and numerous others. Our group of 5 had all our rams killed by lunchtime on Saturday (bow and gun). The Rams were a little tougher to get on than I expected because of the thick South Tx brush.

All in all we had an excellent weekend in Benavides and would go back again! Thanks for a great weekend guys!

looks like fun. I see they have a 5 tier pricing system on rams. Would you share which class these were? Did you have the ranch to yourselves?

No problem. From the first pic down.... $395 on the first three pics, nice ram with curls was $795, and the white ram was $245

All rams were tagged so that they were easy to see.

We had the ranch to ourselves all weekend

Is there blinds set up to hunt out of or is it still safari style?

I saw a couple of shooting houses that you could gun hunt out of but no bowhunting blinds. It wouldn't be too hard to corn up on one of the roads with a pop-up blind and still hunt.
