    Low Budget Feed Options?

If you cannot afford to plant or have the equipment to plant food plots, what is a good thing to feed in PVC pipe feeders during spring and summer?

Are you looking at feeding or attracting? Dragging a chain harrow or something similar and breaking the brush encouraging new growth of native brush would be more beneficial

Protein pellets, horn salt, mineral, cow peas, corn.
We've tried all listed and have had good success.
      Good luck.

That would be my question as well. We started cottonseed this year and it wasn't too terribly expensive. Protein is priced pretty low right now relative to other years. If you are just looking to attract, plain ole deer corn will do it. I haven't had too much luck using pvc tube ground feeders. I would get something up in the air.

Mainly attracting. I have 40 acres with heavy hunting pressure all around from deer leases. Looking for something to try to attract & hold deer during the off-season.

Protein during summer and CORN during season and keep off the place as much as possible!

About all you can do. Let your place be a safehaven

If you can get access to a tractor, brushhog, and disk you can promote new forb growth by simply cutting and discing.

If you don't have $$ to spend, any limited protein or corn will be pointless. The only way you can make physical change in the deer is by spending a fortune. If you are doing it cheap, might as well just use corn as an attractant during hunting season and let mother nature do the rest.

You can create a salt lick for about $5. It is not going to hold deer on your property but it is a cheap way to attract them in the late spring-summer months. You can get a good inventory of the deer coming through your property with a camera on a salt lick.

Bill Winke has some videos about planting a "poor man's food plot."

Scroll down there are a couple older videos on this (that are not frost seeding.)

Frigid Forage has been feeding wildlife since 1987 with high quality food plot blends. No coatings or fillers, just 100% premium food plot seeds in every bag. View our website for food plot information, buy food plot seed, big and beasty seed, food plot screens, and everything in between.

Other than that I would probably just use throw corn. On of my friends used to have a pipe feeder made out of PVC. It seemed like the deer would knock it around and not eat out of it right, but this is a few years ago. He passed away and I actually have the feeder (I have never used it, his wife just wanted me to take it and get rid of it.) I can post a picture of it if you want.
