    MR7 comparisons

I am looking at purchasing a new bow, but want to shoot it first. Any ideas where I could shoot one, or what matthews bow would be the closest to this one? There is an MR7 in the classifieds right now that I would be interested in but scared to buy without shooting first. I currently shoot a Bowtech Guardian, and want to know how it compares to that also.

Maybe contact the seller and see if they would let you shoot it first?

The MR7 is a great shooting bow.

Chill R is going to be very close, 1/2" less BH, but similar platform.

With a moderately bum shoulder how will the draw cycle on a MR7 treat me? I can handle any moderate draw cycle but don't want anything too extremely harsh. Thanks again

It is probably a moderate draw cycle.

Should be very moderate. When I first shot my Chill R I couldn't believe it was set on 70#, and its very smooth for its performance. Same cams, different riser/limbs

So if I do enjoy the chill r it should be a safe bet to pick up a mr7?

I think the MR7 is a little heavier and a little bulkier but draw is going to be close but I think the Chill R is a little smoother drawing but I'm not positive on that because I've never shot them side by side!

                  The main differences are that

                  The Chill-R:
                  - not as stiff at the same DW.
                  - You have the option of Rock Mods.
                  - The Chill-R does not feel top heavy
                  - The Chill-R will be much lighter.

                  The MR7

                  - Has more brace height
                  - is heavier overall and will feel top heavy
                  - has a spongy backwall (can be addressed with creep tuning)
                  - And it will dump a bit going into the valley
                  - The MR7 will feel heavier than it actually is, but it still weighs around 4 and a half lbs.

I found the MR series to have a stiff draw cycle. Stiff, but smooth without any humps or jumps in peak weight. It was an improvement over the original monsters, but it still seemed stiffer than the Chill series. Speeds between the two bows are going to be roughly the same, dependent upon which mods you go with on the Chill-R.

Of course all of this is just my opinion, and the best bet would be to find an MR7 owner and shoot one. I made the mistake of shooting the MR series and then going and buying a Monster 6.7 (monster 6 with 7 mods), and it felt quite a bit different. The thing maxed out at 76 lbs and really did a number on my shoulder. Either way, the MR7 is a fast bow, and you could shoot lower poundage and still get great speeds and KE.

So would a z9 be a good option other the the mr? I'm not terribly concerned with speed.

Gonna be a completely different feeling bow. Really at the end of the day it all comes down to preference. The z9 is smooth, but again, its all relative.

If you have shoulder issues, I'd go by a shop and shoot everything. Don't overlook some of the speed bows either. Backed down to 50lbs a lot of speedsters are pretty tame, while putting up pretty good KE.

I'd love to be able to do this, but a 32" draw left handed makes that extremely tough... I'm just trying to get an idea of what's out there right now
