                  beautiful pic. with a 6 second exposure i bet that isnt a meteor tho, they move too fast. more likely a satellite.

                        Bill, yes it is the Milky Way.
                        Tx fire, yes it's a meteor, the half-second that it appeared was within the 6 seconds that the shutter was open. I have hundreds of shots in my "digital trash can" of satellites and airplanes...and lots of "just" stars
                        6 seconds is about the max amount of time you can take a shot without the stars "trailing" in the exposure. Unless you have an ultra wide lens like 11mm, then the trails aren't as noticeable.
