Traditional Archery in or around Houston

Hi everyone,

I moved to Houston for a job this spring and I haven't had much time to experience the traditional archery in the area. I'm looking for a shop that's set up to make arrows (carbon with feathers), as well as make strings.

If there are any clubs or shoots in the area, that would be good info as well.

Welcome to the big city. I moved down here alittle over a year ago, myself. Banana Bend has some shoots. I think that they might be done. I am not sure. I know that there are some trad guys around that will chime in that have been in these parts longer than us. Good luck this year.

For arrows, Greater Houston Archery might have some with feathers, or be able to make them.

What part of Houston are in you? Buffalo Field Archery is on the west side of the beltway and Clay road. West Houston archery is moving or just moved and is at 10 and the Beltway.

Buffalo is very close to you, they have a great setup... As far as archery shops for trad, good luck.

I will be glad to help you if I can... There's a few things that I can help you to learn to do by yourself. I have been very fortunate to learn from these great folks on this site and I'll gladly help where I can.

I live out in Cypress and have an arrow saw and can help build carbon arrows. For woodies I just call Jeffro. Right now I am traveling a lot with work and leave for a short elk trip in 16 days. Strings I just call Rick Barbee and bam a string shows up. Like I said when I am in town I can help you put together some carbon arrows.

I live in a neighborhood off of Clay Rd, between Gessner and Blalock.

Thanks for all the input and offers to help. I'm set for arrows right now I think, but I should be getting a new string soon. It would be nice to meet up with some more trad guys. I still have plenty to learn.

I am probably an hour away, but you are welcome to come out and shoot at the Lost Cow Ranch some time.

The guys at The Bow Zone will make you arrows with feathers, they did some for me this summer while I waited told hunting stories.
