    Boss Buck Issues?

I am running the 300# Boss Buck protein feeder. First, I have no problems with the company or the product. It is really well made and seems like a good feeder. I am feeding AntlerMax protein. The problem I am having is protein piling up on the ground under the spouts. I clean all the dust and crumbs from the chutes at least once per week. What is the problem? As long as the weather is dry, it's not a big deal because the deer will eat it off the ground. But if it rains, it will ruin anything that has fallen out. I've killed 14 coons off this feeder and get no coon pics, so I know they're not digging it out. I've about decided that it might be birds. Anyone else have this problem? Any help would be appreciated.

No turkeys on camera, and 100% protein. No corn.

I had problems with deer and coons pushing a lot of protein out looking for corn until they get used to it. Never had a problem since. Don't know what to tell ya

I have 22 Boss Buck 300 lb feeders. The only time I have that problem is if a coon reaches up and pulls himself up to the feed port. But you have no pics of coons so Im baffled as well. I had to put pavers that were about 3" thick under each leg so the coons could not grab onto the feed port. I also dug out the area directly underneath each feeder.

I have had a boss buck feeder for many years, I do find a lot pellets on the ground when the deer are hitting the feeders hard. In fact, I started gauging the number of photos I would have on my game cameras by the amount of feed on the ground.

How windy is it where you hunt? I have had the wind shake protein pellets out of my feeder. (Not a Boss Buck). I had to drive tee posts next to each leg and tie with wire to stiffen it up.

I have tremendous problems with blackbirds doing this (but generally they are bad during the winter and spring). I added some 7" x 7" squares over the tubing and cut the bottom 1/2 into a skirt that hangs over the front of the tube. This hits the birds' wings as they try to fly up into the tube so they can't perch up there and pick out the protein pellets. At one point, protein consumption in my feeders was over 70lbs per day...now with the skirts over the front of the tubes I am only seeing ~30 to 35lbs per day and it is almost exclusively from deer.

You won't see many (if any) pictures of birds picking it out now because they are doing this during daylight hours and their bodies are too small to be picked up by the game camera in higher summer time heat

Thanks for the suggestions! I've tried to tighten up the spouts, and I put out an owl scarecrow. I was a little worried about the owl, but it had no effect on the deer. Spilling seems to have slowed some.

The question is...How did you kill all the coons?! Would love to know. Trapping, shooting, poison??
