    Bow age?

Would one of you trad gurus please help me age this Bear Grizzly? It was my grandfathers. I remember shooting it about 20 years ago on his farm and it has a ton of sentimental value to me, even if it is worthless to the masses. I also have the antlers from the first buck he killed with it!

My guess is it is a 1970-1972...

The button is flush, if that helps.

The coin is mounted flush, so it has to be older than 1972!

BTW, I am not a Bear guru. I just looked it up online.

The K at the beginning of the serial number means it was made after 1970. I'm not a Bear guru either. I googled it.

            Check this out:

Judging by the kind of coin/button, it was made between 1963-1972, or thereabouts. So, with a lower limit of 1970, and an upper limit of around 1972, and given what Bisch found, I'd say it was made in 1972 or 1973.

But I don't really know. Just googling around.

              You mean 1971 or 1972?

Well, what I found gave it an upper limit of around 1972, and you said after 1972, so I figure 1972-1973.

No, the info I found says the flush coin is pre-1972, and I said his bow had to be made before 1972!

Both the 71and 72 had black glass and shedua wood. The 73 was green futurewood. I can tell no difference in the 71 and 72 in the Bear catalog but I am not a Grizzly expert and these bows are getting a bit too young for my interest. I do own a 1973 and it is probably one of the uglier bows in my collection. The grizzly was known as the poor mans Kodiak and was a darn good hunting bow, they just didn't get the fancy woods etc. in them

That's awesome! A bow from the early 70's is still around and in good shape!
