Boys Bunk Bed

Just saw this picture on facebook. It's the coolest boys bunk bed I think I've ever seen. If we have a little boy one day, this will definitely be on the DIY project list for their room. No other pictures of it but looks fairly easy to recreate.

How would you do the curved back fender?

Cut it out of 3/4 ply wood and laminate two pieces together making it the same thickness as the 2xs that are used everywhere else

I would caution anyone looking to build bunk beds to be very careful and do some research on "gap standards" and the like.

A friend of my wife's lost her four year old a couple of months ago to homemade bunk beds built by a family member. It has been an indescribable tragedy.

The JD bed is cool, though.
