    Fob vs 4 fletch

Went to on target today. Took four arrows. Two with fobs, two with 4 fletch with aae pro fletch. Weighed them and shot thru chrono.

    Fob: 391gr at 279fps
    4 fletch: 389gr at 280fps
    Foc: fob 11% 4 fletch 10%

Shot techno hunt too. It measures your fps too.

    Fobs showed 271-272
    4 fletch showed 276-279

Just thought id share a comparison of the two different fletchings

Either the chrono is off or the Techno is off. With the results of the chrono being very close on fps I would say it is right considering how close the weights are.

Yea. Not sure where the techno hunt measures fps, if its up close or when it hits. Gonna try to shoot fixed blade broadhead tomorrow with fobs if it aint windy.

I'd like to try the fobs, just haven't done it yet.

Can you use lighted nocks with them ?

Yes and no. The fob comes off on pass thrus, along with ur nock. I did see a video on youtube on how to make ur own that stay inside arrow after passthru to help find ur arrow.

That or you can do the yarn trick. I take a piece of fishing line and tie it in to my broadhead/field point, and then tie it off to some bright orange yarn. Take a coathanger and shove it down in the shaft, then take more fishing line, tie it off to the nock end of the yarn and run it through the fob, then place the nock inside the fob, on the shaft. When the fob pops off, it'll run out the yarn. With 50lb test spider wire, I've yet to have the line break. Only adds around 10grains or so at about 5 ft of yarn. The lighted nock trick won't work on micro shafts unfortunately.

I've been debating switching off to Helios vanes, and I've tried 4 fletch etc, but I always keep coming back to Fobs. Part of my problem is that I shoot Accu-nocks because I have string angle issues, and Accu-nocks are the only nock long enough that I've been able to use at a 30" draw length to avoid FoB pinch. And with that, the only lighted nocks available in Accu-nocks are firenocks which are 60 bucks a pack . I'm about to start trying reflective arrow wraps from Arrowwrap.com however.

FoBs are nice, but they come with a few issues, just like anything else.

Haven't tried fobs but I'm currently shooting 4 fletched AAE Pro max, with a 1 degree offset and it's a tack driver out to 60

I've shot both and in my experience, the FOBs stabilize broadheads better, faster and at longer distances. And crosswinds have virtually no effect on them, especially when shooting smaller diameter arrows.
