    All that hunt Ft Hood

I don't know what it's about, but it looks like they're wanting input on the hunting/fishing programs.I'll be there.

I heard there were some higher ups at fort hood wanting to only allow active duty and their families to hunt fort hood and close it to civilians. Don't know if this is what this is about but they may be having a scoping meeting to get input from civilians.

I heard the same rumor. The folks that run the hunt program are civilians and they said nothing like that was happening. If that is what the meeting is about I doubt that civilians would be invited. We'll see I guess.

It looks like they are looking for suggestions to improve the hunt program.Fill the form out and either email it to the contact info on the web page or take it to the Sportsmans Center .
Myself I'm going to suggest they add Bowhunter Safety classes to the Hunter Safety program. Also I'm going to suggest adding more archery only hunting areas. While we are in the minority,if enough of us make noise it may make a difference.Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.
I know there are alot of TBHers that hunt Ft Hood.If you can't make the meeting at least fill out the suggestion form and mail or email it in.

Yes definitely, I'm also going to suggest that, making areas archery only really help the quality of hunting. I can't make the meeting but will definitely send an email, I've never hunted there but me and a friend were planning on getting a permit this year to do some scouting, due to rumors about the current public lands we hunt.

The bowhunters safety class is something I have been suggesting to the public lands I hunt to require too, I think "H" is the only one that requires it now, I anticipate that to change in the future. Do you have the email address to contact the sportsmans center about suggestions or do you have to mail them that .pdf form?

              mailto:judy.johnson5@hood.army.mil

I just tried it and it's not working.I'll try again tomorrow.I'd like to ask EVERYONE to mail in suggestions. It's not very often WE get asked how WE want something done.Even if you don't hunt on post,it's still a hunting resource that is available to EVERYONE.If at all possible could a mod sticky this to the top for a couple days?

Great,if anyone wants to go to the meeting but can't get on post let me know.We can carpool in so you don't have to get a day pass.
I would bet this meeting will be like most elections.Very few will show up.If we can get a large number of bowhunters maybe we can get more areas that are archery only.

Especially with the short notice, you make a great point.

PM michael or or one other moderators who are signed in and they can set that up.

I cannot make the meeting as I am currently in South Korea until the end of the month. Would like to request that they change the shotgun policy for hunting hogs. Why do we have to get a special 3-day registration/pass to hunt hogs with shotguns, not during deer season, but don't need the same pass during deer hunting season? Also, is there a way for the Sportmen's Lodge to post areas they would like people to help hunt hogs?

Tim, I think this is what you're looking for.

                        Pig Hunters

Pig hunting has been made more convenient. 210-X5 (written clearance) NO LONGER required to hunt feral pigs on Fort Hood. Just check in/out on Teletrac system selecting OPTION 4 (Fall Small Game). This option will be updated prior to new permit sales.

Don?t know where to go? Come by the Sportsmen?s Center to look at the ?Hot Hog Spots? map.
