    Draw Length question

I know it may seem silly, but what is the difference if someone who typically shoots a 30.5" draw length, and should be shooting 31"+, would switch to a 30" draw length. i ask because many of the new bows don't quite stretch out far enough, and to get a long enough draw length really cuts down on choices. Is it just something i would have to get use to or would it severely hurt my shooting.
    Thanks all

Depends on the ata of the bow too, the string angle can be to extreme making the DL feel shorter. But I see this hurting anyones shooting some cuz you wont be comfortable, wont be able to hit all your ancor points just right, and again you wont be comfortable.

i personally shoot, and enjoy bowtech, but there new RPM 360 and Carbon overdrive are only available out to 30. They have 2 bows that i counted that go out to 31, and it worries me that fewer and fewer new bows will be long enough.

first off, very few people that shoot a 31" draw length are really a 31".......regardless of what they think. now if you really are a 31" you should be able to get another 1/8-1/4" by untwisting the sting. this will have little effect on the bow's perfomance and is other wise known a "micro-tuning" draw length. this is a common practice among world class archers as half sizes simply aren't good enough for them.

i used to shoot a 28" bow, that's what my pro shop told me. i struggled with right misses and could never figure out why. after a lot of research i came to the conclusion that my draw length was too long so i dropped down a half size. much to my likinging the right misses went away, i'm shooting better than i ever have, can shoot more arrows longer and feel much more comfortable @ full draw.

be warned when you first drop down it feels really bad, stick with it for about a month and it will start to feel natural. now when i shoot a 28" bow it feels really sloppy and i struggle to settle in fully.

it really sux for you long draw guys, seems like bow makers don't give ya'll a lot of choices anymore.

I agree if I measure my wing span and divide by 2.5 its 31 3/8" by hoyt has 31 modules and d loop but I have to twist the string to shorten it just a tad. what about the Experience that's a great shooting bow. I would put that bow againt their new lineup.

Your shooting will ALWAYS suffer if you aren't shooting the correct DL, whether its too short or too long. I shot 27.5 when I started, then shot 28 for about 5 years. This year for some insane reason I switched to 26.5 a few months before bow season... not a good idea. I have gone back to 28 and my shooting has been much more better and relaxed.

In short first make sure your DL is correct, and second stick to it, don't try to make you fit a bow, the bow should fit you.
