I'm sure Bisch will chime in soon. He uses one and from the way he talks, it works pretty well!

I've used one for 40 years now and have had very little trouble out of them. I almost never hunt with out using it and I own a darn good deer dog.

I use mine all the time now and even shoot thru the netting in the ground blinds with it.

The String Tracker will not make a bad shot good, but it can make a recovery possible on a good shot with a poor blood trail!

I will never turkey hunt again without the string tracker!

Also thought I would add this:

Just because you have a string leading out into the woods does not mean you can just jump out of the blind and start following it. You still have to wait between 30 minutes and several hours (depending on the hit) before tracking. The string is just a tool to help you out on not so good blood trails.

I bought one about a month ago after losing a pig on what I think was a good shoot.....never found any blood. Have yet to use it but hope to very soon. Here's a great video on setup and how to use it...

I love watching that string peel out after the shot every time I shoot a critter!

In the past I used one ALOT. I shot dozens and dozens of animals with a string tracker. I got it mostly for turkeys, but I recovered several hogs that I would not have found with out it.

I once shot four animals (three hogs and a doe) in one sitting from a laddar stand. I had four strings streaming away, I felt like a big ol' spider up there making a web.

I took mine on my first trip to africa. My PH liked it so much, I left it with him and all the extra spools of line I had.

I have not used one in a while now. I couldn't really tell you why. Just got lazy on it. It takes a little more effort and attention.

How much "drag" does it cause on the arrows flight? Is there a noticeable difference say at 20 or 25 yards if you were to shoot with or without the string tracker?

I can't answer that one Shiloh? I have never tried to shoot mine at anything past about 17-18yds. At that distance, there is no noticeable difference. Seems like I may have taken a few practice shots at 20yds way back when I first got mine (like 20+ years ago) but I really can't remember.

If I was planning on taking a shot over 20yds, I would definitely waste a $5 spool of string practicing with it!

When practicing with mine I shot out to 25 yards and saw no noticeable difference in arrow impact. I also did not pull out 100 yards first like the video stated. Nice video btw, thanks for posting. Still haven't shot an animal with it.

Where would one look to find this product plus its replacement spools?

The farthest I have shot an animal with it was a doe at 28 yds. I would normally have just pulled the string over the broadhead and cut it loose but I forgot.

I personally don't like the string holder. The line goes through a hole in the front cap. If you shoot another animal, you would have to cut the string to put another spool in. If the animal should get up and run again while it had been cut, it might cause a problem.
