Has anyone ever put a propane burner in one of those uds barrels? Seems like you could get some really long time controled temps... just wondering how it could be done....

I can control temps up to 10 -12 hours with just charcoal. -

I think you would need a small low pressure burner
try here.. try to get it to mount in the middle.. need something that has low BTU
I have a propane smoker and the burner is only 15K BTU
found this web site they sell kits to convert to propane

Make sure to plan in a small cast iron skillet above the burner for wood chips. Not sure if you have ever used a propane smoker, but mine takes about an hour to come slowly up to temp and start smoking. Set it on medium, let it go for a while, and adjust from there. Too much heat and the chips will catch fire.Comment
