    Black Buck Hides

I am wanting to tan 3 hides that I have had for a while sitting in my deep freeze. I am hoping someone who has done tanning before would be willing to help me out in trade for one of the tanned hides once they are done. Here is a picture of the three that I have. Thanks for any advice.

Cabela's sells a tanning kit- Lutan F tan kit or something like that. It's worked well for me. First thing you want to do is salt the hide. Pour a bunch of pickling salt over the hide, let it weep off moisture and repeat. This will preserve it and you can keep it essentially indefinitely until you are ready to complete the tanning process.

      That's what I do.

I agree with Pete. I've also used the lutan-f kit from Cabelas many times. Follow directions and take your time during the stretching phase at the end. I also lightly sand it at the end which I found helps soften it just a little more. Good luck
