I'm not going because I only have a few vacation days left, and I need them for my hunt later at Laguna Atascosa. Good luck though, hope you stick a biggin!

Dad got a standby on the first hunt

2 does and a hog were the only things shot

Think they killed 26-28 on the post card hunt that was at the first of the season. It was anything goes, have to kill 2 does before you could shoot a buck

From my experience seems to be a very tough place to hunt.

Dad and his buddy are hunting standby again

Talked to him earlier and he said he has his stand in a good spot with 3 scrapes nearby

Talked to dad earlier. He put a stand in an area I had found on a previous hunt. Had a nice 8pt come in right at dark tonight. Winded him and hung up about 30yds facing dad. Said he did not spook, just turned and walked away with no shot.

He is going to be back in the tree in the am to see if he can get a 2nd chance

Dad said around 10 deer killed. 3 bucks he knew of. Rules state antlers outside ear tips (no 13" rule) one was about 16, another was 13.5" and not quite outside but aged at 4.5 and let slide. Last one was not close to ear tips and state guys were conversating about whether they were going to let it slide or hunter forfeit deer when dad left

What?!, I thought they went to the 13" rule when the counties adopted it, I remember when they had to be 15" inside spread @ richland creek pre 2009, or is it still that way there? Keep us posted on what happened to the third guy, lol

Last few hunts I have been on down at GE it has been an outside the ears rule.

No idea about the 3rd guy, dad was leaving when I talked to him

They go by outside the ears, not 13" and they're SERIOUS about it...
