Newbie question on a bow purchase

    Hello all,

I am looking to buy a newer bow that what I have now and wanted to see what you guys thought. I'm looking at a used Mathews outback tomorrow for $400 loaded but can buy a new Hoyt charger for $600 as a package. What would you do? Or do you have something for sale that you think is a better purchase? Im just starting to actually get into it and can't justify $1000 but would pay up to probably $700 for a loaded bow. Any advice?

I'd go to a shop and shoot everything in your price range. You may be surprised by a bow you never thought of. It's like buying a car, gotta test it out before you buy so you know what to expect.

As most would say shot them all and let the bow pick you.. There are alot of companies that have a packed deal already set for some of there bows and in some cases the pro shop will swap out the pack age parts for up graded ones and you get the warrenty on the bow vs the possibility of loseing it by purchaseing it second hand

Go to a pro shop... I know of a good one in stephenville that gave me one heck of a discount on a bow!!! I got a 1000 bow for 200 cheaper.. sometimes you just get a good experience at pro shops and they have a good warranty on the original owner (well PSE does).

Go to a shop. They will hook you up and get you set up. If your just starting you don't have any of the info you need. Just don't go to a big box store. Go somewhere like cinnamon creek.

Seen an article online that tested or someone shot 5 or 6 bows that were in the 500$ range...brand new...he rated them...don't remember specifics other than Mission was one of them

If you buy an Elite, it won't make any difference if it's second hand. Lifetime, transferable warranty !

Go shoot a Bowtech Assassin...you'll probably end up buying it same day!

Well I shot just about everything Cinnamon Creek had to offer and went with the new Hoyt Charger. For the money I think it won hands down and would recommend it for the 5-600 price range. Thanks for all of the insight. The guys at Cinnamon Creek were awesome to deal with as well.
