I have only killed 3 deer with my recurve, none have gone more than 60 yards, actually my first went 25-30 my second dropped in her tracks and my third went about 60 yds.

It will go the same distance it would have gone if you shot it with your wheel bow!

      Good shot = 25yds- 100yds

Bad shot could be a mile or more!

I have had deer drop at 10'. I have had double lung deer go 250 yds. Lots of factors involved.

Sooner or later something will leave the 15 acres. You need to plan for that.

Ya never really know. I've seen double lungs hits go 0 (zero) yards, and I've seen them go 200 yards.

I usually try to shoot an animal when it is relaxed, but that is not always an option.

What I have noticed is - the animals I shoot when relaxed generally always go less distance then the ones that are wired when I shoot them.

Another thing I have noticed is - animals that I get complete pass throughs on generally spook less than the animals where the arrows stays in them. Spook less/run shorter distance.

What Rick said... I will note that I once shot a doe that was feeding in front of me while she had her head down eating. She shook her head, went back to eating with blood squirting out both sides. After about 30 seconds she took maybe 10 steps and laid down, then put her head down and died.

Then again I've shot deer that I thought wouldn't go 20 yards with all the blood leaking but trailed them 1/2 a mile.

Biggest thing is not to chase after them, give them plenty of time to lay down and die.

I shot a calm doe right through the heart once and she ran over 300 yards.
I made the same shot on another and she fell over dead on the spot.
You just never can tell what will happen.
I have noticed that deer shot in thick brush tend to not run as far as deer shot in more open areas.

I shot a doe once and she jumped a fence, ran out in an open field and layed down in the tall grass. I watched for a few minutes and saw a hunter on the other side of the fence walk out and jump my deer. She came back and jumped back to my side of the fence. I never found her, may not have been a good shot? I do my best to stay away from fences now.
