    Paracord Round Braid

All of you guys are doing great paracord projects, but its time to broaden your horizons and get away from the same old flat braid. Round braid makes for some really nice projects.

This one is going to be a key chain for my 4 wheeler key. Theres a fishing bobber inside the monkey fist instead of a ball bearing. You can look up how to make that.

Ive seen a couple instructions on a 4 strand round that teach twisting. I dont like that way and think this is much easier to do and you can tighten it more.

I didnt get a picture of starting because I started right off the monkey fist. You can look up the start. Same for 4 square and 4 round.

    Looks like this to start

Take any two legs and go DIAGONAL across from each other.

DO NOT GO STRAIGHT ACROSS like this. It will make a square. Well unless u want to make a square.

Ok, back to diagonal. Side view. Take the remaining legs and pass them through the loops you made.

What it looks like before you tighten it down.

Work the key chain in and do one more set.

To finish you braid back underneath previous levels. Go over 1 red then under 2 yellows. Use a fid to pry the loops up. I ended up going under 4 on this one just to make sure it stayed.

Pull the legs real tight and trim them close. Roll the braid in between your hands to smooth it all out and the cut ends will pull underneath where you cant see them. May need to melt a couple hairs.

This is an experiment I did. I started in the middle, tied the 4 cords together super tight with an inner strand. Braided out one direction, cut the tie and braid out the other direction. This would let you finish both ends on D rings on a bag or something so you could use it as a carry handle.

Im also working on an 8 cord round over top of a 4 cord round, as a handle. I made an 8 on a dowel rod. When I slid it off everything loosened up after playing with it and the ends came undone.

This is an 8 cord braid. More complicated but still not bad. I learned the technique from this youtube video.

You can do a normal 3 flat braid and do exactly as he does. This instructable is a little confusing. The twist method for this is A LOT easier than trying to do the crown all in one move.

How to Make a Paracord Fender Keychain: For those who don’t know, a fender is a bumper used mainly on boats to keep the boat from being damaged from bumping into objects. While this isn’t an actual fender, it serves as a great decorative keychain.

I did a 4 flat. Left to right over, under, over. Then continue like they do. Theoretically you could do this with as many cords as you could hold.

              Very slick.

I'm going to give it a try tonight.

I like the rounds better myself. Use two different colors of cord on it looks good too.

There is another round braid that I use that is less square with only 4 strands. I use it on the ends of my bow wrist straps.

Looks like this. It was one blue, one white, two silver. I can't remember off the top of my head how I did it

I think it was if you had 4 strands
                        1 2 3 4
Take 1 and go over 2, then under 3
                        2 3 1 4
                        Then take 4 over 1, under 3
                        2 4 3 1
                        Then repeat starting with 2

To finish it off for a sling, I wrap it in electrical tape, cut it in the middle of the tape, then burn the ends and melt them together

Do u know the name of it? I can't get it to look like anything much less round. The instructions may be a tad off.
