    Flip Flop Genetics

Has anyone else ever had a buck that swapped sides from one year to the next? I figured this buck was a cull last year with having a spike on one side. More amazing to me that he grew tines this year is that his dominant side switched from right to left.

I have seen that several times. I think alot of bucks are taken as culls do to injuries. That's a nice buck.

And that my friend is why you don't "cull" young bucks with messed up antlers. Most of the time it is just due to an injury and the buck will return to normal the following year.

        That is neat.

I have a yearling this year that is a weirdo. One side is a perfect, with G1 and G2 tines.

The other side is 2 main beams and no points.

I'm wanting to see what happens with him next year, he's either gonna blow up and be something great, or grow into a freaky treasure. (our area is very symmetrical 8-10 point bucks, mid to low 130's for mature ones)

yes. most of the "culls" guys post are more than likely just a damaged antler.
