    Went out with the D40

Well, I went out looking for things to shoot this evening. Funny how you find something that is pic worthy only to find that the background lacks alot to be desired. Not like a have alot of scenery out here anyway. I took more than 40 pics and didn't like but a handfull. Guess that is typical. These pics have been highly "adjusted" from the originals, but its what I liked. It is unbelievable what you can do with a pic after its taken.

Nicely done. You're working the composition favorably on these.

Jason, those are awesome. You have a good eye for composition. I like the post processing too on these. Some folks get all **** about getting a "realistic" image, but to me, a cool-looking image that pleases the eye is a good image - whether it is perfectly realistic, dramatically altered, or somewhere in between.

I like 'em. What PP software are you using?

Shane, its the Nikon software that came with the my Nikon. They don't look exactly the same on TBH as they do on my PC....weird. They actually look slightly darker to me on some. I can't be **** about a "realistic image" out here. Nothing looks good out here.

Good stuff Jason. I was sort of expecting tumble weeds. I especially like the sepia stuff because it reminds me of living in Lamesa.

You need to plan a trip down this way some weekend soon.

Jason, I grew up in Tulia, so I know what you mean. BUT....there is beauty everywhere. In some places it just jumps out and grabs you. In other places it is less obvious, but beauty is still there.

You just have to notice it. Then you have to point your camera in the right direction from the right angle at the right time. Then you just have to post it for the rest of us to enjoy.

Don, I am sorry you had to endure any time in Lamesa, if there is an armpit.......Lamesa qualifies.

I don't know if I will be going anywhere anytime soon with the new job.

OK, there is something leaving a spot on my photos(middle left). Lenses look clean. Why do I have a spot?

Great shots, Jason. I'm impressed. Obviously the 40d is new, but I suspect this isn't your first time to delve into photography? Neat pics.

Jason, LOL @ Lamesa comments. I agree!

The spot is dust on your sensor. I think it was Les that posted a thread here a couple of weeks ago that had some great info on cleaning. If you do it right, it's great. If you do it wrong....it will cost LOTS of money to repair your camera....so be careful. And living out there, you will need to learn to do it yourself instead of going to the camera shop every other time you go out and paying them $60 to clean it for you.

You also need to practice with your software to fix the spots. Most of the time it's pretty easy after you get it figured out.

Michael, I have always enjoyed taking pics, just never had any real equipment to do it. I by no means broke the bank with the new stuff but its better than what I had.

Don, guess I need to learn where the sensor is and how to clean it without messing something up.
