    Whisker String Silencers

I was going to put whisker string silencers on my bow. Looking at them on-line they look just like spinnerbait skirts. I have many spinnerbaits with matching skirts. Can I use them or is it a totally different material?

You can probably use them as long as they're good quality......meaning not the kind that gum up and melt into a big, rubbery, sticky mess. You've gotten nothing to lose by trying them, anyway.

The whiskers. I bundle them up and tie a knot.

That's the easiest way IMO. I know bow shops use thread. Gives it a perfect ball shape and evenly distributed around the string.

You may get a 100 shots off of spinner bait skirts before they rip off.
I think they are made from a softer rubber.

I always tied "cat whiskers" on with braided serving so they wouldn't slide up or down the string and could make them into a nice ball.

there is a good thread over on the Mathews forum about tying them. Mine have minimal sliding, and do a GREAT job of quieting my drenny down.

ill post a tutorial sometime on how I tie mine. I use 452x bowstring to tie them in and use the same piece to serve below and above the center of the whisker. You cant slide my whiskers at all. Takes a little longer to tie, but its worth it.
