Im sure someone has done some math on it, but i would like to know a few examples of how much more the deer were eating compared to when they didnt have water. were yall seeing them eat the food twice as fast now or just noticed a little bit more?

I have a water station at my protein feeder. I don't know how it affects the deer eating the protein but I believe water is just as important as anything else we can do to help the deer.

We set up water stations at our protein feeders, coincidentally, during the drought year in 2011.

The deer were eating protein as fast as we would fill them up and were hitting the water hard. Actually every critter that could get into the feed pens were eating and drinking.

Drink get the majority of there water needs from moisture in the vegetation they consume. Protein has very little moisture in it so it makes sense that water nearby would be beneficial to the deer.

I don't have any idea if they consume more protein or not.

Our deer are split. Some of our protein stations that are very close to dirt tanks do not get hit near as hard as the protein stations we have that are a long way from water.

thx, yea we have creeks and quite a bit of water on the property but i was just thinking in my head; " i wander if the deer didnt have to walk a 100yds to go get water if they would consume more if the water was right there in the pen with them".

Munch down about 2 pounds of protein and see if you want a drink.
