FOC and POI at 60 yds

lots of thoughts on arrows with lots of FOC and its affect on arrow flight, everything from it causes an arrow to nose dive to nothing at all.

what i've never heard is how much it is supposed to make my arrow drop at any reasonable range, is it only provable through physics, is it enough to matter at reasonable range?

my ADDHD riddled mind devised a way to find out, at least in my mind.
my new matrix g3 is setup for gold tip .22 series arrows with 150 gr points. i figured out that .22 cal pellets are a snug fit in the nock (from the inside) super glued in.

made up 3 arrows all between 399.9 and 401.99

    #1 stock nock / 150 fp. foc=20.9
    #2 nock w 1 25 gr pellet / 125 fp. foc=15'5
    #3 nock w 2 25 gr pellets / 100 gr.fp. foc=8.2

i'm lucky to have a 60 yd. range at home and am used to shooting those distances. usually have a lot of dirty air, so can also see how arrows handle wind.

all arrows look the same except the fp, all range stakes / arrow stands are pvc pipe so i avoided looking at the tip while loading to be fair in the test.

not super scientific and not a large sampling i know but did see some trends .

#1 they all hit the same elevation wise, surprised? yeah alittle, didn't think it would be much but probably noticable.
#2 harder the wind was blowing the more the 100gr was likely to be a flyer, on a bad release you could guess pretty well if it was the 100 gr.
diff between 125 and 150 harder to tell.

    MY TAKE

i shoot the 150's on light stiff shafts because i think they penetrate better, but was curious about nose diving arrows plowing up texas.

my other set up is 15.5 % this one over 20% just didn't see any difference in my pin spread and anyone elses.

i think i have a shooting machine lined up this week to get more precise results. if it works out will give results.

    what do you think

is there no difference, is my thinking flawed, my shooting flawed or my distance not long enough to matter?

When i went from 410 grains to 560 grains, my 60 yard pin moved very little. Remember, a heavy arrow will retain it's speed longer than a lightweight arrow at longer distances. Also remember that the higher FOC will be pulling the rest of the arrow towards the target instead of the arrow trying to "push" the point towards the target.

HD your thinking way to far into this brotha. If it ain't broke don't fix it. That Nilgai ain't gonna know the difference. Lol.

i agree 100% hard to find others who agree. extra penetration is like insurance nobody thinks much about it till something goes horribly wrong. too late by then.
